Anti-Records has announced its latest signing of Andy Shauf. The Canadian singer-songwriter came to the attention of both listeners and the press with his basement-born album “The Bearer of Bad News”, and has been hailed by critic Paul Bridgewater as “One of the most outstanding talents we’ve heard in quite some time”.
Shauf’s success partially owes itself to his unique utilisation of various instruments paired together in a rather unusual way. His use of the clarinet-a Christmas present from family- with more standard instruments such as guitar; bass and drums, gives a stylish ambience to the recordings. Shauf himself says that “It just has a unique tone or voice to it that nothing else really has”, giving his music a signature sound but still reminiscent of artists such as Elliot Smith or Paul Simon.
Andy’s new single “Jenny come home” and his previous albums can be found on iTunes and Spotify.
