[TRACK REVIEW] THE HAPPY HIPPO FAMILY – TWO BLOCKS DOWN

Just when you thought Sweden couldn’t export any more perfect power pop, Two Blocks Down by The Happy Hippo Family comes along – and it’s an indie pop belter. The Swedish quintet have compiled surging synths with a super smooth vocal to create four minutes of anthemic, euphoric and uplifting sonic joy. The band, consisting of Martin Qvarfordt on vocals, Rickard Andersson on guitar and vocals, Carl Viman on guitar and keyboard, Timmy Bjärnebro on bass and vocals and Björn Fhager on drums, already have one LP, titled Monacoville, under their belt and have just finished recording their second album with the help of a hugely successful Kickstarter campaign.
