Reading and Leeds Festival have announced Red Hot Chili Peppers as the first headliner for the 2016 event.
Famous for tracks like Californication, By The Way and Can’t Stop, the exclusive booking is the first time the American band have headlined a UK festival since 2014.
Also added to the line-up for next year’s annual event are Manchester based bands The 1975, and Courteeners.
Returning from their headline performance in the Radio 1 Dance tent last year Boy Better Know will also be appearing in 2016.
Making up the rest of the first announcement are punk rock duo Slaves, bedroom beat maker RAT BOY, Spanish indie quartet Hinds, American duo Twenty One Pilots, Japanese metalcore outfit Crossfaith and Tottenham garage specialist DJ EZ.
The festival takes place at Reading’s Richfield Avenue and Leed’s Bramham Park during the 26th to 28th August 2016.
