[TRACK REVIEW] COLDPLAY- EVERGLOW
Coldplay’s Chris Martin sat down with Zane Lowe yesterday on Beats1 Radio for an exclusive hour-long interview about their upcoming album (due for a 4th Decemeber release), his life and to premiere a worldwide exclusive song from the LP A Head Full of Dreams titled Everglow. The track is a classic sounding piano-driven ballad, the usual Coldplay-esque sound you’d expect. Martin recalls hearing the word everglow from a surfer he encountered on his travels and the song came straight to him.
“It’s about – whether it’s a loved one or a situation or a friend or a relationship that’s finished or someone’s passed away” he told Lowe. “I was really thinking about, after you’ve been through the sadness of something, you also get this everglow. That’s what it’s about.”
This ambition for what the song is meant to be about is really captured and there’s that extra push for emotion with the additional backing vocals from ex-wife Gwenyth Paltrow. Overall it’s nothing new from Coldplay, but it’s still sweet and it really embodies the feeling of overcoming hard times.
