[Album Review] Yumi Zouma -Yumi Zouma

Kiwi trio, Yumi Zouma’s self titled album, gives us a glow of warm hope and resilience for the future of music. Moving away from the current market of pop-soul-RnB, we find an electro-disco feel to each song with a mix of 90s shoegaze/dream pop.

In particular ‘The Brae’ takes you on a journey to the hot LA sun, warm sand and blowing palm trees. Upbeat synths and guitars create a rapturous rhythm but an airy desolate voice over powers the song, conjuring up a mixture of emotions.
