16-year-old Ella Maria Lani Yelich-O’Connor releases her extraordinary debut into the music industry. A glittering hauntingly monotone album, confident in its ways. Filled to the brim with light percussion, finger snapping beats and slow drawn out deep bass melodies, and she carries it off like a pro, Lorde’s passing about in the music industry since the ripe old age of 12 becomes very apparent.
Obviously the album isn’t yet perfect, there are tweaks, in the slight repetitiveness and perhaps a new lyrical subject matter wouldn’t go a miss. However, we can still expect big things from this one yet.
